Letters (Oct.-Nov.) written from Sauk Centre by Nasmith to his wife concerning the troops under his command and their part in the Dakota conflict; a letter from Captain Richard Strout (Hutchinson, Minn.) about the 9th Minnesota Infantry, Company B (Oct. 23); a photographic copy of a sketch of the temporary stockade at Sauk Centre in 1862; and a letter to Nasmith from Sgt. William O. Topping, stationed in Maryland (Sept. 24), giving his former commander an update on members of the 7th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry following the battles of South Mountain and Antietam.
